Question Electric fan conversion.

Just was wondering if anyone out there has installed a electric fan in their truck. I have everything to do it, the fan, the relay and sensor kit...etc. Was wondering if any one has done it and if so if they had any increase in power or fuel mileage, or if they had any overheat problems.

If everythings working properly you should not need an auxillary fan, and it would probably not help. The clutch fan will be fine as long as your cooling system is sound. Considering Fords craptastic charging systems of the early 90's, you may not want the added 15 or 20 amp load. One thing, though: If you've switched to R-134 on an R-12 system the electric fan may keep the head pressures down a bit at a stop and make the car a bit cooler, not a bunch but a bit. It's not likely you'll benefit much from an electric fan.

I guess i didnt state it in the 1st post, I am completely removing the clutch fan assembly and installing a electric fan as a replacement. Sorry about the confusion.

OK. Well, try to go with a "pusher" fan, you'll get more flow. Two Taurus 3.8 V-6 fans would kick some butt, but you'd better have some alternator to back it up. I ran two taurus fans in a 94 towncar hearse but it had a 130-amp alternator. I don't think I would have got away with that with the tiny alternators the passenger cars came with.
