Y Block vacuum

Should I have some sort of vacuum going to the distribuator on my 54? I think that vacuum is the only advance these engines have. Could this be causing my engine to cut out over 55 in 3rd gear? I've heard of a short in my headlight wiring, fuel vapor blocks, and points. I have new points. I've checked the wires, and loosened my gas cap. I think this lost vacuum might be it. How do I get it back?

I HAVE A 54 239 . THERE IS A VACUUM LINE FROM THE BACK OF THE CARBURATOR TO THE SPARK ADVANCE ON THE DISTRIBUTOR

Turns out it was fuel filters stopped up! I do have one carb that didn't get vacuum - the hole in the carb was stopped up. An older one is on now and it works fine with the new filters.

I'm about to leave this week for Pigeon Forge. Are you coming?
