Anybody know what would happen when a 97 mod IDM is plugged in to a 01 powerstroke? Can that IDM be reprogrammed to work in an 01 model? If no, I have a 97 IDM for sale
When you plug it in, the 01 will start up and run if the IDM is good. Performance will be a tad better if it's got the 140v mod in it. If it's a stock 110v from the 97 year, the performance will be a tad worse. Otherwise it's plug and play. No programming or anything needed.
Thanks Chris! I was told it would work, but wasn't 100% confident in the intel. As far as I know the 97 was not modded, but I will swap the original back as soon as it is repaired/replaced. I just need the 97 IDM as a stop-gap until then. Thanks again.
I have a 110V IDM that I keep as a spare. It was traded to me for a 140v that I modded and gave to another member. I have used the 110v while waiting for a reman 120v to arrive and notice a very minimal difference in performance. Honestly, with my single shot injectors, I couldn't see any difference at all. I also use the the 110v as a "test" IDM when I, or someone else, need to eliminate that as the culprit, after the wiring has been checked.
Put it in. You'll be fine.
