Mine did this to me on friday 2 times back to back. The difference is I was turning to the right and up onto a curb and then down the other side. Steering was at full lock and it was the only 2 times it has done it. I tried to replicate it again and I couldnt

My 2010 SCrew 4x4 17in rims has always done this too on a hard left turn especially into any bump (driveway). Don't remember it happening on right turn. Dealer said it was common due to a tire travel bump stop and showed it to me. Does sound like scraping but no sign of anything visually.

I took a look at my bump stops and I can see where the metal has rubbed against the other metal. Shouldn't be anything of concern

That's what most of the symptoms sounded like to me too. Slap a glob of grease on your bump stops and try to recreate the noise. I'll bet that solves it.

Yep, held it down for well over 6 seconds and still hear the noise.

I finally went to the dealer to have them try to figure out the scraping noise as well as to fix a leaking master cylinder/power booster. Just by driving on some uneven grass/dirt at the dealership and turning the wheel all the way in bought directions, it was easy to replicate the scraping noise for them. It turns out, as some correctly mentioned, that it was the bump stops next to the lower ball joints that were hitting and making a scraping sound. They put grease on the stops and where they are hitting and no more noise thankfully.

Thanks for the update.

Guess I need to get out the old grease bucket.

It's something fairly common on our trucks. It is evidently not a major issue because Ford is not even recognizing that it exists. I test drove a new '12 Lariat a few months back and when I made a turn into the dealers parking lot I heard the same thing. The salesman riding with me and I looked at each other at the same time and said, "What was that?" We told the service manager and he ask us what we had been smoking.
