is there any differences
i have a 97 f150 5.4 my engine went bad so i had a buddy who had a 2000 f250 with the 5.4 both engines are vin L my engine blew its head gaskets witch we didnt know till i pulled the engine and i already bought this engine the problem with the f250 5.4 was it had a couple bent vavles in the head and a cracked head so i got the heads off my 97 5.4 and had them get reworked. but my main question is there gonna be anything that wont let this set up work?

it will work, but you will make less power. The 97 heads are non PI(Performance Improved)
99 and newer 5.4l's had PI head. Also using Non PI heads on a PI bottom end will mostly likley require premium gas. The Non PI motors have dished pistons and smaller combustion chambers, while the PI motors are Flat pistons with larger combustion chambers. So when you use a PI bottom end with Non PI heads, you get a higher compression ratio due to the less combustion area voume.
It is thought by some to be the best setup for making HP though. If you Port a set of Non PI heads and put them on a PI bottom end. This is because you raise the compression of the motor and also still have the air flow to support it. The engine will probably need tuned to take full advantage of all the modifications, but would run with out a tune.
