Crossmember Problems?

Crossmember Problems?
I'm converting my 1968 Ford F100 2WD short bed (360 V8) from a manual three speed column shifted transmission to a C6 automatic. I've already swapped out the steering column to an automatic column with power steering. I'm about to buy a rebuilt C6 to use in this swap and have a couple of questions. Can I use a passenger car C6 (long tail shaft) or must I use a truck transmission (short tail shaft)? I know I'll need a new drive shaft in either case. Also, will I need an automatic cross member? Thanks!

Relocate crossmember?
Thanks for the reply. I found an old post and a picture of a C6 mounted in an F100 using the manual transmission crossmember. He used the stock manual transmission mount and crossmember and moved the crossmember back an inch or so by drilling new holes in the frame. I want to use a passenger car C6 in my truck. I'll be changing the shift linkage to the truck linkage so I can use my column mounted shifter. I'm mocking it up with an old C6 I have this weekend to see how it will works.
