I thought the yellow roof top lights were chicken lights. The "chrome tube" is actually electrical conduit bent and welded into a homemade "off-road light package".
I have always heard "Roof Lights" refered to as clearance lights and the the side lights are know as side markers. Sorry Dennis looks like your out numbered on the name of the lights
Sorry Dennis, guess I must have been in such a hurry typing I missed the H in Chrome. Someone needs to get a spell check on here! Doesn't clearance usually have to do with height? Such as on an underpass: Clearance 13'6"
The "clearance" lights also denote how large a vehicle is (weight class). Atleast from what I've read any vehicle rated over such and such weight must have lights so it is "more visible"...
Just for kicks here is some more slang for our pesky light naming problem:
"This is the factory wiring only to run the Factory Optional Roof Marker Lights. Also known as DOT lights, clearance lights, marker lights, camper lights. These are the 5 running lights that are found on top & outside of some cabs."
Sorry for the length of the quote but it came directly from an auction on Ebay for some NOS wiring.
