I found out that the tranny in my 78 f350 is a t18 from borg warner. I dont know much about this tranny and was wondering if anyone could help me out. Is a t18 in a 2wd truck the same as a tranny in a 4x4 with out an adapter? I searched the internet and found out that the t-18 came in different versions. It showed the tranny and it looks like mine in the 2wd truck so i dont know. Im asking this b/c I am looking in to converting the truck to 4x4 and if I could just take the yoke(i think thats what its called) off and connect the transfer case it would be nice. If not then maybe ill just buy another truck. Also, does this tranny bolt up to small or big blocks - or does it depend on the housing...? might be a stupid question but im young and learning. Eventually id like to put a 460 in the truck if possible thats why I asked. And the axle on the truck...I dont know what it is and have a few ???'s. It is a dually and has overload springs and ten bolts on the back diff cover. A dana 60 or 70?? Also, is the length of a dually axle any narrower than a regular axle? It just looks skinnier to me. maybe b/c of the duallies...I want to take them off and put singles on. I know this is a lot to ask but it would really be appreciated if someone could help.
