Also the truck came from out west and has the large side mirrors. Also has what looks like a added fuel tank and a front brush guard that seems to be stand with ford part numbers were these like accessories.
Fuel tank was an option, only available factory installed. The mirrors were either available as an option or at the parts counter as an accessory.
All outside mirrors were installed by the dealers. If ordered "up front" .. were placed inside the cab at final assembly.
It has an aftermarket a/c unit
(Maybe yes, maybe no-see descriptions below) and it's an F250 4WD high boy (High Boy: Enthusiasts term, not Ford terminology). Any help would be appreciated.1) Factory installed integral A/C is combined with the heater. The A/C controls are in the same panel as the heater controls. There are two glove boxes, one in the dash (has a short liner), one in the bezel.
2) Dealer installed A/C is not combined with the heater. The two A/C switches are located in the bezel. Only the dash glove box is present.
Ford didn't offer a brush guard until 1978, so it's aftermarket.
Genuine Ford 25 gallon auxillary tank offered as an option * for 1967/72 8' Stylesides. The tank is mounted on the inside of the left (drivers) frame rail.
1967/69 only: The exposed fuel cap is located in front of the left rear wheel, above the scallop (bumpside) line, almost in a direct line from the in-cab tanks fuel cap. 1970/72 is not the same.
Inside the bed is a shield that protects the fuel filler tube from possible cargo damage. There is a manually operated fuel tank selector valve mounted on the floor adjacent to the drivers side of the seat.
Below the dash, mounted on a bracket, to the left of the steering column, is a toggle switch that switches the dash fuel gauge from one tank to the other. The switch bezel is marked: L FUEL TANK R
If the auxillary fuel tank your truck has does not have these features, it's aftermarket. Here on the west coast, the Fey Bumper Co. installed single and saddle tanks for dealers and customers alike.
Usually, the fuel cap is located behind an aluminum door, the door frame is riveted to the bedside. I've also seen a fuel cap located inside the bed. Its filler neck pokes thru the bed floor, left rear behind wheel house.
Look at the mirror head, does it have three vertical embossed lines, with the center line longer than the other two? If so, most likely it has either optional genuine Ford Western (3rd steady-rest arm) or Western Junior mirrors.
These were available either painted (usually white or gray) or stainless steel.
The upper 'goose neck' arm mounts to the door frame above the vent window, the lower 'goose neck' arm mounts below the vent window.
If the steady-rest type, the 3rd arm mounts to the leading edge of the door, t'other end to a bracket adjacent to the mirror head.
* The optional factory installed in-cab storage compartment mounted where the in-cab tank was located, so if ordered, the in-cab tank was not installed, the 25 gallon auxillary tank became a mandatory order.
