Hope I can get a little direction from some of you who may have dealt with this before. Here's the issue..... my 41 pickup uses a 42-47 cab. The doors, I assume, are 42-47; they have a metal frame around the glass. I'm wanting to convert back to plain glass as found in 40-41's. I've heard from others that all I need to do is get the 40-41 patterned plain glass and install in the existing channels. Anyone here made this change and if so, did you run into any issues?
Also, I at least need to replace the felt in the channels, if not the whole channel. But while looking through my MACs catalog, I noticed they sell channel kits for either 40-41 pickups or 42-47. Can someone educate me on the differences? I'll be calling Macs but I thought I'd look for some guidance from fellow FTE'rs who may have dealt with this before. Thanks. -Ken
Thank you Gary - that helps. You know, I'm embarrassed to admit that I saw that thread at the time and forgot all about it. Must remember ... do search first! -Ken
Im the original poster of that other thread, and I'm right there with you. Mine actually is a 47, but I can't stand that window frame, and since the truck doesn't have the original engine and transmission in it anyway, I figure it won't hurt to go with the 41 style channel kit and glass. I think it's a much cleaner look, myself.
