fuel problems
I feel your pain. Went through something similar. It COULD be the rear low pressure booster pump, but probably not if you replaced it. The high pressure pump gets fed downstream from the Fuel Tank Res. Switch. I suspect your res. switch is bad, not allowing fuel to make it from the rear tank to the pump and fuel rail. From what I've read, bad o-rings and various other things screw up the fuel flow, and check valves, my particular problem was the rear tank filling the front tank and lower rail pressures. You can test by removing the supply and return lines from the rear tank to the switch and bypass it straight to the pump, and see what happens. I had a similar problem and replaced the switch tonight, truck runs better and my fuel pressure went from about 30 to 40-43 PSI. Bought the overpriced thing on ebay, expect to pay at least $170-180 bucks for one. I've got an 88 250 as well, our switching valves are mechanical, not electrical, and they only used it on a few years hence the higher price due to scarcity.
