I'm pretty sure it is house paint thinking back, and I remember it wasn't rusty, just had the original avacado green showing through white paint. I think I'm just gonna run with it, its kinda got that patina look. Oh and while i'm thinkin about it, where could I find some original dog dish hubcaps? I'm short at least one since it became the clock in my kitchen.

Are they the full size or just small cap style? If full size(covering the intire rim) I believe I have a set of 16" in the shop...

Next weekend i'm headed up towards my grandpas so I should have more information and some pictures. Unfortunetly i don't think I can drag it home yet . No trailer plus i'm a little worried about how my jeep will do towing it.

How far will you have to tow it home? What type of Jeep do you have Wrangler, Cheerokee? If your really wanting to get it home, you can always rent a uHaul car trailer...depending on distance, it may be worth the look...plus they'll rent you the truck and trailer for a decent price...no wear on your vehicle, drive it up, drag/winch the truck on the trailer, drive it home, push it off, take the truck and trailer back...

I've got a grand cherokee, v8 towing package, but thats still a hell of a load for a jeep. I'd've towed it back with my 1992 f150 "hillbilly hotrod" no problem, even though the jeep is rated to tow about the same, oh well the sacrifices for starting a family. About how much should a f100, straight six, 3 speed manuel, 2wd weigh?

Mine with the 351W and C6 weighs right around 4100lbs...per the last few times I've made runs to the scrap yard...

Personally I would go for the full trailer as opposed to the dolly...they weigh a good bit as well, but they do a great job...I know for a fact a '78 F100 SWB will fit on a Uhaul car trailer...I hauled one from AL to SC...no problems...used all of Uhaul equipment, box van and trailer...like I said, no wear and tear on my vehicle...
