I can second the caliper slide lube importance. When I took mine in for 30k service, I told them I wanted my slides lubed (no comment J) he nodded and knew exactly what I was talking about. They did it and noted on the bill with a N/C. This from a dealer competitor of the dealer where I buy my trucks. What a difference a dealer makes. OR, I think what a difference a service manager makes...

I've had issues with both my 6.4 F350 and this 6.7 350 with the brakes. At 22k and 30k with calipers freezeing and burning out the pads. This last one was the front drivers side only at 30k and I replaced both front sets of pad with Thermo Quiets only no caliper replacement. This has worked now for 20k fine.
I work the brakes hard at times pulling my trailer or camper. It must do something to them. And yes the pins are greased. In all cases the pins were saturated with grease. So look else were for your issues.

Okay, so the service writer called today - the right side caliper and rotor are also bad needing to be replaced. Makes no sense to me. 10K miles and new front calipers and rotors. This is crazy - both calipers failed? I am definitely ready to get my truck back. Hopefully tomorrow.

Not yet, no - maybe next deer season. Took delivery new in January and I've been the only driver -it's been driven only on the road. Of course I live in the midwest where salt is used on the roads during winter. But we have little snow this year and I had the truck washed (underbody) regularly. With only 10K - well almost 11 miles now, the caliper slides should not have needed grease yet.

actually, with all that undercarriage washing, its possible what minimal lube that existed could have washed off

Truck is Fixed

Picked up my truck last night. It turns out that they had to replace both front calipers and they resufaced the rotors. The left front caliper was the main culprit in that the pistons had seized and cracked - which was why it clmaped and would not release fully. The right front had signs of imminent failure - it was dragging also, not releasing well.

I asked is this was caused by the slides either not having enough or not having been greased and the guy doing the work said no - that they were greased. He said he did not have any idea why the left caliper failed, but because it is on national back-order he thinks it must be a bigger problem and possibly a defective part (defective being my word not his).

Anyway it's back on the road again and Iw as able to turn in teh loaned Fusion iw as driving. By the way, I really liked the Fusion - had a lot of power with a v-6 that would wind over 7,000 rpm. Kind of fun to drive - but not as much fun as my '67 RS/SS Camaro.

I have not seen any requirement from Ford to "lube" anything on the brakes.
Where is this in the Ford maintenance schedule?

Thanks

My F450 has always pulled hard right when braking. At first I thought it was just a conservative truck, but now I think I will get it checked.

Jaybread, I'm not where I can look it up but have seen it noted and others on this site have mentioned this is a requiremnt at 15K miles - to lube the caliper slides.
