so im just gonna ask you all. id like some advice on lifting my 68 ranchero. Id like to put 35's on it without cuttin g the fenders will a 3 inch lift clear 35's with no trimming? And should I do a body lift or suspension? suspension is expensive but i hear body lifts are dangerous and can blow up my truck and kill passing busses full of children and nuns. has this ever happened?. also id like to make it a 4x4. whats the cheapest easiest way to make it 4x4? is there ike a kit that can be bought? also my buddy said i should get lockers for the axles. what does this do? are they like a locking toolbox or something? or something that i store the axles in when im done? I dont like the idea of having to uninstall my axles everytime i get back from wheeling. And will this rig hold up to wheeling 3-5 times a week? i dont mean anything serious just some speed bumps and tall curbs down at the mall where the cute girls hang out. and how can i make it faster? do tthey make chips for these engines? a friend told me i probably had a 350 or 454 engine? If i do a full performance rebuild and 35 inch tires on a3 inch lift with 5.72 gears can i still get 20 mile to the gallon if I drive easy?
And Im thinking of getting a cowboy hat and blasting colt ford and jason aldean and pretend im country while i **** off all the real rednecks. do ya think ill get my *** beat for this? or will they think its funny? Do girls like black hats or white? what brand? i hear george strait wears resistol and hes still cool i guess but i hear real cowboys wears stetsons...
oh another thing tires im trying to decide between thornbirds or studded snow tires what do you think is better for light mud? and by light mud i mean the puddles in the parking lot when it rains. and how do i keep the mud from sticking to the bottom of the car i hear you can spray baby oil on the frame and stuff does this work? will KY jelly work? I hope i didnt ask too many questions im new at this. thanks for any help.

 

you obviously need Rockwell's for this application, as far as lift id say a 12" body lift should get you there but still may need 20" banana Springs.

as far as lockers just steal some from the local HS they will work great...

if your just doing light mud id say run a combination of BFG AT's and a set of Thornbirds 1 thornbird on front 1 on back across from eachother and the BFG's on the other 2 corner's! with the 35" super agressive tires you'll most likely need a minimum of the 6.40 gears

 

Assuming this isnt a pitiful attempt at humor, the easy answer is forget about it; sell the Ranchero and buy a truck.

-On a Ranchero 3" of lift over stock will never clear 35s. 31s maybe

easyest way i see about doing it is take the rancho body and put it on a 4wd f250 or 350 frame

if you have a 68 rancharoo, you definitely have a 454 in it. the 350 was not available in the 68 year, because they had problems with the piston shrinker and were not able to shrink any 454's to 350 in 68.


as Larry said, 12 inches of body lift should make everything clear, but i would put a set of 6 inch blocks between the springs and rears just to be sure.

and can someone please clear up this headlight fluid thing for me? do i pour it in thelens cover or soak the bulb in it before installing it?

You're over equipped with tools, all you need for this entire project is duct tape. Definitely go with the studded tires for your application, those mall parking lots can be stupid slippery.
