Hellwig Installed

Based on the reviews and advice I read on this forum I purchased and installed a Hellwig Anti-Sway Bar this weekend. I read on this forum that the install would take 1-2 hours. I had about 5 hours into it but I also did the shocks. I guess I'm not as fast as some of the guys on here.

Anyhow, I have to say that the results are good. The Ex is definately tracking better down the road and while I didn't have a major wandering issue I do think it's better now. I can really feel a difference going around curves and during heavy braking. The backend used to feel like it was pushing sideways and it would cause the wheel to turn and I'd have to steer it straight again.

Appreciate everyone who wrote reviews and pointers for installation. I read alot of them and I know it helped with the decision and the installation. The Hellwig directions weren't great but with help from the forum it all went fairly smooth.

What diameter of the sway bar did you buy?

It was the Hellwig 7643 and I think the diameter is listed as 1 1/4".

I'm not sure if there are any other optional sizes that Hellwig offers.

The Hellwig bar is great, and it does what it says. It keeps my truck body from rolling when taking fast turns and doing fast lane changes. The end links provided with the kit are a joke though. Have someone fab you up some burly end links, the ones Hellwig ships are totally pathetic. My end links are made out of some unbent U-Bolts for a big rig. The straight threaded rod from these massive unbent U-Bolts much larger than the puny Hellwig links, it just barely fits through the ends of the sway bar.

So are you saying that the ones provided by Hellwig are not doing their job or are easily bent?
I have not heard of too many people replacing them unless they have a lifted truck.

Easily bent and or broken, I was talking about it on another thread and someone with a stock truck chimed in and said they broke theirs...

Obviously I had to have some fabbed because of the nature of my lift, but the included links are junk, just look at them.

We did try to put it together with the Hellwig links and they bent like crazy when we set the truck down.

I wouldn't want to have the stress of the truck under load and the force of a turn on those links when I was depending on my sway bar, kind of defeats the purpose. Why have this massive bar when it is hooked up with tiny weak links?

Look at the ones in my picture above, they are thick, they just barely fit through the hole in the bar, way more beefy.

I gotta say, although it is nice and shiny, the actual diameter looks kinda small and dinky compared to my stock one, I thought they were beefier
