New guy from SC

Hey everyone, new guy from the Charleston area. This is my 1979 ford F100 and it has a 302 with a three speed. This is going to be a learn as I go project, so I will probably have lots and lots of questions; however, it looks like this is the place to be for help. I'm looking forward to getting started.

Very Nice...Welcome to FTE! The BEST place for information, and help!

We love pics of your truck and your work/progress...let us know what your planning on doing to your truck...the most important thing to remember is...it is YOUR truck, do what YOU want!

Congrats, and Welcome Aboard!

Welcome to the site. It's not your fault you're in CS. Just kidding, we go down to Clemson-Salem area once in a while to see friends.
Lots of info here, like what seats will fit etc. Like Caleb says fix it the way you want it.
You might also join the SC Chapter to hook up with other FTE'rs in the area.
Join Chapter that didn't work. If you go to SC chapter there is a link there for joining.

Caleb- My plans for the truck at the moment is to get in running good. It runs, but I just want to update some things to get it roadworthy.

GLR- Thanks for the info, i'll look into joining.

SC79- I'm in summerville. I'm originally from missouri, but I'm in the Air Force and I'm stationed in Charleston.

It looks pretty good (from the pics)...body appears to be pretty straight...there are some things you can do to the ole 302...couldn't really tell from the pics, but you can put an aluminum intake on it, if you have a 2bbl currently you can update to a 4bbl...plugs, wires, fluid flush, one thing leads to another...but it is a lot of fun!

Looks like you have rims from a 90's era...looks good though...

give us a little more info on the engine, transmission, exhaust, etc...

Well like I said it is a 302 with a three speed. The guy I got it from said it was originally a three on the tree, but he moved it to the floor. I'm still really new so I'm not sure what kinda of transmission it is. It has a holley 2 bbl on it right now. I also have a motocraft 2 bbl that came with it. Everything else motor wise is stock. It has dual exhaust with glass packs. No power brakes. It does have power steering, but it doesn't work. Maybe needs a new pump, i don't know.
The body is in ok shape. It has dings and some small dents, but not to bad for being on a farm most of its life.

If you really want to "spice" it up, get you an aluminum 4bbl intake like an Edelbrock. Put a New 4bbl Carb on it. In my opinion (take it for what its worth), I like the Edelbrock...(again to me) they are more like an everyday driver type, set it and go; as opposed to the Holley, which is more of a performance type, tweaking here and there...

As for the PS, make sure the belt is hooked up, and it has fluid...a quick and easy check may save a few bucks (having to buy a new pump).

Just be cautious...once you get started, it is so hard to stop...they are so much fun to work on and tweak!

That 302/3spd combo should yield some pretty decent mileage.
