The dealer option of installing a factory Ford alarm for $500 seemed a bit pricey especially since the vehicle had every option on the book along with a little light on the dash which I assume was once an alarm.
Is there an over the counter unit I could buy and plug into the harness that works with my keyless entry system??
Your Expy didn't really come with an alarm, but has an anti-theft system called PATS.
You can get aftermarket alarms for $100 all day long but they won't do anything over and above what you have except blare an annoying siren if tripped.
Yes it looks like a good system, not sure how it ranks for theft prevention. I guess the way the Ford dealer made it sound was it plugs right in and does all these wonderful things in addition to PATS and given there is an alarm LED in the dash I was just wondering if a "unit" is readily available.
Again thank you for the response I do appreciate it!
