F350 Vibration
I found this site last week when I was looking for instuctions to change my tranny fluid. It was helpful in that regard, so I thought I would ask a question about the vibration I am getting at highway speeds.
I have a 1991 F350 4X4 Crew Cab with 125,000 miles on it. Before I bought it, I jacked up the front end and checked to see if the front end was tight and I could not wiggle anything so I think the tie rods, bearings and ball joints are good.
Driving back and forth to work, I typically hit 50 to 60 MPH and it rides nice and smooth. When I get out on the Interstate and try to drive 65 to 75 MPH, I get a vibration and I cannot tell where it is coming from. If I have a few hundred pounds in the back it isn't as noticable. This is my first Ford truck and my first one ton. Is this vibration normal for this truck? What should I try first - tire balancing?
Thanks in advance

Welcome to FTE from another New Mexican.
My suggestion is that you might want to check the carrier bearing on the driveshaft. You should have a 2 piece driveshaft and it should have a center support. That's the carrier bearing. If there is slop in it, you will need to take it to a drive train place and have them replace it. It is pressed on.
Good luck, and again, welcome.
