That looks good on the lower roof line earlier cab. Wonder what it would look like on the later taller roofline? Not having the drip edge doesnt detract at all from the look of the truck. Nice choice.

It was $1200 all said and done. Another estimate I got was $1500 minimum. And both shops wanted atleast $2000 to fix the existing rails

Windshield and rear window rubber probably should have been replaced but it wasn't in the budget. Luckily they're both in good shape.

The drip rail actually has three pieces coming together the lower outer skin, the drip rail which also happens to be the inner frame of the roof and the roof cap. I looked into doing mine but opted to keep the rails and just patch the cap.

UPDATE: In the heat the past couple of days the paint over the seam that had been welded behind the end of the drip rail cracked on the driver side and seems to be doing the same on the passenger side. Going back to the body shop that did the work to see if they have a solution to this problem (lead over the work as opposed to a thin coat of body filler). The body guy I used is a family friend has a reputation of doing really good work so I'm hoping he will stand by his work and fix it. Anyway here's the crack:

Looks about the same as the one in my hood where a PO had the emblems shaved.

Fronts are fine and i dont remember the backs being bad i can check again in the morning. I dont think it was the flex in the cab tho as the truck hasnt been driven other than being moved in and out of the drive way the past couple of days and the cracks werent there a week ago.

I had cracks show up on a project I had done a few yrs back. It turned out the body filler was not completely dried before they primed and painted it. Body filler shrunked and cracked. Course I got all kinds of theories from other body guys saying it could have been the way they mixed it - too much of this, too much of that, or maybe it just could have been old body filler or hardner. Who knows for sure. They stood behind their work and fixed it.

Hmmm....I know you said he welded the seam where the driprails were, but I wonder if he welded the rest of the seam around the side/back of the cab? I've always heard they have to be welded pretty solid if you're going to fill the seam or they'll eventually crack....

Sorry, Dave! that sucks!

Just got back from the body shop. He didnt say a cause but he did say he would strip the bad spot down and redo it. However he wants to wait a few weeks and make sure that is the only spot doing that. So we'll see if anything else happens then two weeks from now itll go back to him. Pulling the headliner (working on a fiberglass headliner) I can see some of the welds they did and it looks like they're good and solid so i think someone messed up the Bondo work.
