You may have broken the shift linkage going in to the tranny, if I saw a picture that would help, do you know or trust any tranny shops around there ...
No, I don't trust any. In any case I did inspect the linkage, and it was complete all the way into the transmision, that why I'll need to take off the pan to see what's going on inside, anyway I'll take a pic of the linkage tomorrow just for you to check it.
Fluid seems to be leaking from the front seal/torque converter, through the inspection plug (which I removed, yet I have it stored). And I can move the linkage at the tranny, but it was hard to do, and no, I was able to reach all the gears but P.
Sorry I took a few days off from FTE to work on my Mustang.
Here's what to expect on the inside of the tranny for the linkage: (the thick rod in the midddle is the other side of the shaft the MLPS bolts to)
The long rod at the top of this picture goes into a hole just outside the edge of this photo. It had fallen out on me but I jsut put it back in and it works fine, you'll just "feel" that its "in".

Here's a different angle of the inner linkage. Notice the rod with discs in the middle of the picture. Those discs are what actually hold the linkage in the selected gear.

You should be able to freely move that disc'ed rod in and out. It'll squirt trans fluid at you when you pull it out a bit. The linkage isn't actually attached, it just kinda rests inbetween two dics.
Not sure how much this all helps but let me know if you need any other pics I'll try and find them!
I think that will help a lot, now I have a base point at to what should all be looking like inside, if it's working alright. Do you by any chance know which is the shift linkage bushing I have read about?. I suspect it could have failed, and it making the linkage stuck was what made me break the shift tube.
Which ones are you referring to? are the plastic pieces that go on the shift tube considered bushings?.
Yes. There isnt anythings else really. From the column to the trans is a cable, so no bushing required, just need to make sure cable isn't bound up/cut. Past that is just the linkage pics I posted that go into the internals of the trans.
Every thing inside the tranny looks good, thats the ''manual valve'' there with the spools on it, the detent spring is up top there, so when you move the linkage from the outside it should move the manual valve back & forth between gears....
