Digital Documentation

I have collected a plethora of Powerstroke 7.3L documents for all years. I even have a document that compares the different generations (with engine wiring diagrams). This collection takes up serious disk space and posting each one in attachments isn't working for me - plus it would gobble up the upload limits of several Supporter member accounts. I could make a library on my own website (considering it), but I am unsure of the copyright laws regarding this and I wonder if the FTE site has a venue for such a library.

Does anybody have input on this?

Rich: I had an issue a while back trying to post a chassis manual. Exceeded limits,, blah, blah, blah.

I finally uploaded thru my google account to (dammit!! brain fart!!) but was able to provide a link. Rick was one of the people who got to it that way..

Good luck...I'll be watching...

You could try Google Drive and share the file(s). 5GB of free storage.

Here's a sample pdf file I've set to share:

Rich,

Try building a website through Google Sites. It is what I did for mine. You only get a 100MB of storage for files but like mentioned you can use Google Documents and Google Drive to store the larger ones. Only thing about Google Documents is accessing the files from my work. Most companies do not like "storage sites" as it is a way they can get viruses and people can upload information (proprietary data). I put the important stuff on my website and the less important stuff on Google Documents. Google Drive is nice as it brings all the files together on your phone or home computer.

Also upload all the picture formats to Photobucket and use the links to post them to your site. That way they don't use up the storage space. With all the stuff on my site I use about 90 meg. Those are pretty much the files at the bottom.

You can always get a website with more storage, you would just have to pay for it.

As far as copyright laws, you always run a risk of it. I think as long as you are not profiting from it and you remove it if asked right away, you will be warned. They can always come after you, but the expense to sue a private guy is usually not worth the reward.

Sharing what I have has always been the reason I started posting on my website. Websites like Springerpop's and Diesel O-rings are what makes me want to share the plethora of information I have collected. I know I have a 8GB thumb drive that is almost full of information!

OK... I did the Google Docs thing and PM'd the link. I figure the smaller the share list, the longer it stays up before the copyright cops come-a-callin'.
