I bought a 76' f-100 with a 78-80 302-2 barrel with a C-6 and it needed a new flywheel, i replaced that, and a new starter, and when i go to turn the key to start nothing happens, if i jump the "S" terminal on the solnoid the motor will turn about 1/16 turn on the crankshaft and stop, i have a fully charged battery, new wires to all the way to the starter, so i pulled the plugs thinking it could use the lesser compression to start but with the same result...
The truck may have sat a long time like from last hunting season to this one... about 8 months...
i know there is a prolbem with the start position on the key, mabye a fuse?
It sounds like the motor is stuck, but it will turn, i attempted to start it 25 or so times and got a 1/4 turn on the crank...
How can i fix this?
Your solenoid could be bad. TO verify this, use jumper cables,
and short the +BAT terminal to the starter terminal on the
solenoid (the 2 large terminals).
Try and turn the motor manually at the balancer with a pull bar. If you can't your problem may lie in the flywheel/starter change.I had a problem with my manual flywheel and my clutch mounting bolts being too long and rubbing the backing plate. You have a auto but this may guide you to the problem.
i got it turn over it runs very rough, needs the whole vacumn system redone, its just plugged except the vacumn modulator it needs new spark wires, spark plugs and a carb re-build, i think that should get it running right...
on a other note i need a new tranny linkage mine keeps falling out of its holes (hate when that happens)
any ideas for the parts, brand name or so on...
on a other note, my parking lights come on with the engines run position on the key, also if you some outside and turn on the parking lights with no key in the radio will come on...
I need a wiring diagram for the radio wires the factory power wiand the ignition key color codes too, thanks..........
