I have been quoted $750 for a tranny rebuild but I'm not so sure I need it. For a basic "tune up" of the tranny what is done? New seals, tighten linkage, mounts and a flush?????

Always call around. I have a NP435 in mine and just had it rebuilt from a shop for $250, thats here in denver, co. $750 was the first quote I got, but after calling around it went lower and lower and lower! The price I got to, was after I pulled it off the truck and removed the transfer case. Around $650 is about what I would expect to pay if they did ALL of the work. They replaced parts as needed. After looking at the bill, they replaced all the bearings and seals, plus labor, plus mines a manual. Don't know what you have. Auto's might cost a little more. Hope that helps!
