Anyone use these in 460's? In particular #1143c. Im going to be using D0VE-A heads and a 10.300" deck block, and am wanting to keep compression between 9.4-10.5:1 with good quench. good? no good?
I agree with George, from what I've read on other forms hypereutectic pistons are actually stronger (or at least as strong as) forged pistons. What they can't tolerate is a lot of detonation as they are more brittle than forged. A couple of years ago I called tech at KB and they told me they had sponsored a 1,500 HP blown alcohol car that had run their pistons. I'm currently running them in my Vette which has a small blower and regularly sees a 210 HP shot of nitrous with no problems so far. I do run AV gas and pull out 6 degrees of timing (for nitrous) though to keep it from detonating.
Like George says...you must follow their ring-gap recommendations or you WILL break a ring-land.
I'd say if you have the extra money buy forged for that extra insurance and peace of mind, but KB's will do if you can keep that detonation demon from "knocking" on your door...

Think Ill stick with the 2404F's then. While crunching numbers, with compression height and rod length etc, I come up with .014" below the top of the deck for the piston, plus whatever the headgasket is. Wont this be a tad large for good quench? Curious if the block can have that much milled off to get it where I want?
