Exclamation 64 300 i6 swap

Mornin' FTE! im somewhat of a new memeber, but i had a previous account in which the email changed and i lost the password. so here i am today,

i have a 64 f100 and im going to put a 300i6 into it. i have everything worked out but for the dizzy. the truck is previously wired for a yblock dizzy, and the configuration is different than this 300. nw, i know its hte dura II in it and it has 3 wires coming out the new dizzy versus the old dizzy having 1 black one. now what im trying to figure out is how this new dizzy should be wired to the truck. this is kinda outa my element an i would love to understand the best way to make this work. an y helpfull thoughts, tips, or tricks, to make this happen would be greatly appreciated. would i need to configure the module that comes into this truck into mine? i have about 2 weeks to complete this swap before i leave coastal GA and head back home to KY.

I would get the rest of the dura II much better than points anyway

Borrowing this from gfw1985: The last, 76-77, one is the best. Went up into the 80's. Identified by the blue plastic.

You need the wiring harness for the dura II and then it's just power to the unit. One from the ign sw ( Formerly went to the coil ) and one from the (I) post of the starter solenoid; gives full voltage during cranking.

The easiest way i found was to put a points style distributor with a pertronix points conversion. I ordered a reman distributor and the kit for under a buck and a half. i ran it for over 100k. I have pertronix on my 292. If it fails, you take the points and condenser outta the glove box, install and drive away happy.

question, my truck does not currently have a voltage regulator on it, but this i-6 has a 12osi 1 wire alt on it, will there be any problems with not having a voltage regulator on the truck that would cuase any issues in the future?

With a one wire you do have a voltage regulator it is just inside the alternator. I wouldn't think you would have any issues. I have a one wire in my 66 with a 240 I-6, and no issues for 2 years so far.

thats what i was thinkin, a local dip insist that the swap im doing on my slick is impossible and that im just wasting my time, other than cutting my thumb off and kinda holding me back from workin on it, everything has been going pretty good, besides teh clutch linkage, but im slowly working the kinks out.

well, the swap is completed. sent the carb off for a rebuild friday and should be hopefully geting it back today. that would be the last peice to my puzzle for this and i will be able to drive it. i will take my aunts camera and get some picks up later today. it still was a farely simple swap, but due to the tropical storms that have hit the coastline and starting a new job with the state as a cook at a rehab center, its only taking me about 1 month an half with working on it every chance i can. and sofar i have only spent about 800 bucks including the price of the 73 ford ,parts, and reselling of the cab and frame to get this job completed. i knw that driving this truck sure beats the hell out of driving a H2 SUT. freakin gas hogg!

also. the 300 came out of an 73 but it actually turned out to be out of an 80s model 300. good for me i sapose. this will be way more simpler to find parts for than that 312 yblock. which i gave to my uncle except for the starter and bendix. its just lyin around nw...

okay fam, heres a little update. i have 3 major issues that are bothering the **** out of me since i last drove the truck tuesday. tuesday morning it started up and ran so i drove it to work. left work and it started right up so i drove to the parts store to get a parkin light bulb. it would not start after that. problem #1: the electric choke on the carb is staying choke and carbon fowling my plugs. problem #2: im getting very weak spark to the plugs after i have replaced every peice to teh igntion system besides the stator and the modual. Pronlem #3: when i turn the key to start, the truck will not try to start and when i turn the key back to the off position it tries to Bump for a split second and thats when i get a better spark. its really starting to get aggervatin after 2 months of doing the swap. any ideas on how to solve these issues? this is what i have invested into so far in trying to solve some issues.

rebult the carter carb.
new solinoid, resister, coil ( both types with and with out a resister in-line) cap, rotor, plugs, wires, battery, starter, ground/battery cables, key switch from a 70 ford. i do knw that some of these parts wont solve the issues but they needed to be replaced anyway just for the simple fact that some of the other ones were just old and worn. im to the point were the gm ig modual swap or a new ford ig modual needs to be replaced but why keep getting new parts?!? nw everything seems to be wired correctly from the book EXCEPT the start by-pass wire.

MY QUESTIONS include- is there a way to wire up the elec-choke on this carb or go manual choke from another 1bbl? is there a possiblility that there is a flaw in my wiring? im almost tot he point where i just want to drop it off at a shop and spend the moneys for them to fix with it, BUT this is a last cry for help.
any ideas would be greatful guys. thanks hope yals 4th went B-A like mine did last night lol
