black smoke

my diablo delta chip made my diesel smoke more, just like all chipped trucks..right? anyways i was just curious and wondered is the excessive amounts of black smoke beofre downshifts harmful to the motor?

Right.

i was just curious and wondered is the excessive amounts of black smoke beofre downshifts harmful to the motor?
I am assuming you have an auto and are referring to a passing, or other snap throttle situation? Not a big deal here as your boost level is controlled by the amount of fuel you put in, and it takes a second for the turbo to catch up with the injectors.

I wish my Superchip made mine smoke a little. Hasnt ever that I have noticed, but I never really look when I really get on it.

You can always have it reburned for more power, it'll smoke some then.

Smoke is normal when you're making power via a chip. It means you have a little unburnt fuel. If you want more power from that fuel and cooler EGTs, add an intake system.

Yeah I guess I dont smoke because my chip is not that big. It's the towing one, and I dont really want to go bigger because of the towing I do. O well, it's a trade-off I guess...
