In the directions for installing the Superchip Micro Tuner, it says to diable the fuel pump fuse under the hood. OK, no prob. I disconnect it and turn the key on to make sure the fuel pump doesn't click on, it doesn't, but the check engine light is flickering on and off really fast and it sounds like there is a relay turning on and off, like a flasher, but louder. Is this normal? I know the check engine light should go on with the fuse pulled and engine off, but should it flicker like this?
I pulled the fuel pump relay fuse and not the fuel pump motor fuse.
so i try to install it.
I paid $$ to reflash my computer to make sure the guy before me didn't already install one of these things. Reason-superchips told me that their program takes the timing set and adds to it. so if the timing was already bumped up it would be bumped up further, not good since it was pinging already. good choice on my part...right?
the reflash put the newest ford program, which by the way, gets updated EVERY MONTH, and the programmer i have was a gift and I don't have a reciept and w/o a reciept they won't reprogram it for less than $175...what a joke! I get treated like a thief or someone who buys their product off e-bay (which they say they are against and that's why they do this) for using their product.
So if anyone likes to get their work done by a FORD mechainc, their programmer won't work until it gets sent in after they get the work done.
