1951 F-5 Rust Resto Questions
Hi Everyone,
I've gotten most of the guts of my F-5 rebuilt/replaced n pieces and I am starting to strip it down to the frame to get sandblasted. I have a couple of questions on this:
It looks like there is an inner and outer frame with rust between the two. How would I go about getting that cleaned out or can I have it sand blasted/powder coated without separating them?
What gauge of steel is body made of? The sandblasting guy I'm working with says he's comfortable blasting down to 1/8" or 18 gauge steel. Mine has some weak bits on the corners of the fenders and one spot on the hood that I know will give way but I figure that would need to be cut out anyway to patch the body.
Been working for about two years on the guts and this is my first time getting into to body repair so I appreciate any advice on this y'all have. Picture of the truck two years ago the day we started below and in the signature. Thanks!
