Has anybody put in and used a Performer Intake kit on a 400 V8. The kit comes with intake, Carb, Cam and Lifters. Is there anything else I would need to put this on a 78 400 and what numbers will the motor put out after this kit horsepower and torque wise. The part # is 350-2171PK on www.jegs.com.
I am really interested in what kind of a horsepower difference this kit will make.
Doesn't anybody run anything Edelbrock on their 400 so I can get some numbers on what kind of horsepower I will get from the upgrade. I would even appriciate some websites that have info.
Im running all that stuff. Cam, intake, timing chain,600 holley4v, 9.7:1 compression. I dont know how accurate it is, but dyno 2000 rated my engine at 295hp, 445 lbft.
You can probably find it here if you search for it. It will take some time to get the search right.
Your biggest gain will come from setting the cam timing straight up.
Increasing the compression ratio from 8.0 like you have back up to 9.0 is the best thing. You can push the compression higher but the engine gets real picky about gas and timing etc.
I'll probably change the timing a bit, nut as far as making my engine picky I don't think I want to head in that direction. What size carb would you guys recommend for my 78 400?
