Not in the SW, I am in the far NW...on the edge of ABQ, right at McMahon and Universe...next to Rio Rancho.
I went to the MVD today to get the title done, and the guy at MVD "why wait"...sorry all, but that is the name of the facility...it is a New Mexico thing. The guy was a classic car builder, and was super cool with the folded up 34 year old pre-signed title and bill of sale. The title has passed hands numerous times over the years, and he started the process of converting the title, which only happens once a week in Santa Fe. He said I should not fill out the rest of the bill of sale and the ancient title until the state determines no one else has applied for title in the last 34 years. The good thing though, is that his search for the engine number in 3 systems did not discover anything.
If all is good, I will have an original title for a 1950 truck. Just what I wanted. I proceeded to ask about other desert cars and the process with no title. Either pay a title company to do the research and give title insurance...cost about $350 for a duplicate title. OR, go through the process of creating a car with a "constructed title"...same as a kit car. Just an fyi.

Welcome to the board!
Well, you're not too far away from Ross and I. We're both in Rio Rancho near 528 and Southern.
That dash sure looks good. I can't believe there's a dash out there that someone hasn't taken a cutting torch to....LOL
There's a good car show next Sunday downtown at the Albuquerque Musuem parking lot.

I can't say I am going to be able to take the truck there just yet...I still have to get it home...(just making fun).
So I am trying to search online for catalog and custom parts vendors for these trucks. Are there any favorite vendors out there? Another question...what are the wheel bolt patterns, and does anyone make a wheel that will interchange, or do I have to change the axles or spindles to find aftermarket wheels to fit?
I am looking for 1. a kit to rebuild the suspension, 2. a tilt front clip kit, 3. transmission mount, 4. wheels or wheel conversion kits for a more common bolt pattern, 5. drop front end kit (maybe included in #1)?
Any guidance or links would be appreciated. I have to start setting the budget here.
Just an FYI, here is a link to my last car I built for my daughter...will do the same for this truck www.swartsmotorsports.com

There's tons of free catalogs available; Macs Antique Auto, LMC, Dennis Carpenter, Bob Drake, etc
The wheel bolt pattern is 5 on 5 1/2", Ford used the same bolt patter on the half tons trucks up through the late 1990's. Tons of aftermarket wheels out there. When you start upgrading you will have to decide if you want to keep the big pattern or change to the smaller car pattern or the GM car pattern..5 on 4 3/4, or 5 on 4 1/2.
There are brake kits available for each. I chose to keep the bigger pattern.

Great investment: $22 for a CD with the parts lists and illustrations; 1948-56 Ford Truck Master Parts Catalog CD - HiPo Parts Garage
