nonsynchronized 3-4 4speed

Was there ever a such thing as a nonsynchronized 3-4th 4 speed trans that cane behind a 87 f350 460?

Oh. In this truck you have to let it idle down to shift from 2-3 then 3-4. Think the synchros are bad? It is a PTO trans if that makes any difference

Check your clutch pedal bracket for cracks. If that checks out you may be in need of a clutch. It sounds like it's not releasing.

It shifts well and releases ok. Just if you go straight from 2-3 with clutch in, it'll grind. 1-2 is normal, but the 2-3 then 3-4 you gotta let it idle down or it'll grind. Not a big deal, but just want some opinions on it

You need syncros

All the 4 speeds had PTO openings

The NP435 has an aluminum top cover and passenger side PTO
The T18 has cast top cover and passenger side PTO
The T19 has cast top cover and PTo covers on BOTH sides(you "should" have this one, being it is behind a 460)

All of which have syncros

Yeah I have the t19. Is it a necessity to have those though? Using it for what I need it for, it will do just fine as it is, but I don't want something else blowing up while using it because those are bad

No. You dont "need" them. As long as you CAN shift with OUT the clutch you will be fine, OR wait for the trans to slow down and ease it into gear between the shift
