She Lives!
drove up to seguin this morning to start getting my truck road worthy.
after 300k she definitely needs an interior facelift
she got a new tranny 100k ago
engine has never been cracked open
factory injectors
extra alternator (ambulance package) installed with associated brackets that allow belt replacement without alternator removal...*previous owner pointed that out*
had been set up for water/3%methanol injection...
has a tranny brake installed and wired up to switches on the dash... on the 4x4 switch unit face actually.
has been rigged up with an ammo can bolted upside down under the bed just behind the cab with a 12v air compressor wired up inside... with the breather for it running inside the cab for fresh air... good idear i thought.. and a 3 gallon air tank mounted up behind that... plumbed with a quick connect on either side of the rear bumper.
i did see mondo sighns of leakage in the engine compartment... not quite to valdez status... but it doesnt give me a warm fuzzy feeling...
definite leakage around the hpop... if looking at it square in the face... the lower lefthand side of the hpop is saturated with oil
the brake master cyllinder is covered in grease/oil .. im guessing it was slung or blown there...
did not notice any signs of oil around turbo or plumbing, except where near other areas of what appeared to be slung or blown on grease/oil/gunk
electrically i have seen much worse in vehicles... but at least she isnt throwing any codes.
she did take a while to fire up... cranked for about 20 seconds before she started.
she clattered pretty hard for about 2 seconds, almost like she wanted to start "romping" then smoothed out and sounded beautiful... but then again im used to tractors...so in reality she may sound like hell... but i didnt hear what i would detect as any kind of miss or change in any point of the engine cycle... smooth and steady.
i got a few pics... and will be going back up tomorrow to hopefully get her finished up and drive to her new home! still need to sort out a couple minor electrical issues... like wire up a temporary horn till i can figure out what happened to the one that came with it. and i gotta do the drivers side axle hub bearing/seal thingy. it will be in a shop on monday for that bit of surgery. i get to do the work... with a shopfull of professionals on standby... so this should be fun.
whacha think guys...?
suggestions? words of warning? should i be worried?
xtof
seems like one of the moderators worked some voodoo and it was all fixed.
on a sadder note... the parts for the axle hub job were not the right ones... so another week i have no truck while shipping occurs.
discovered that the radio directly on top of the radio... is a dvd screen.. and the radio is also a dvd player... i dont even watch much tv/movies at home... but whatever,.. bonus
so... if murphy takes a damn vacation ill be back at it next sunday.
lets see..
