I'm looking to buy a used Excursion. I'm looking for something like a 1999 to a 2000 V10. Is there any concerns I should have. Anything I need to look for in regards to concerns. I know about the size being real big and the gas not being the best. I don't care about that. I'm more concerned with and issues you guys have seen mechinaclly that I need to be concerned with. Or any other issues I need to know or look for before I purchace one.
Thanks
Well first off, you will not find a 1999 Excursion. Only 2000 and above.
Nothing really sticks out as far as what to look for. Well, nothing specific to the Excursion, anyway...
It is overall a solid truck with not too many oddities.
Why don't you look at a few, determine what trim level you like, what engine, drivetrain etc. etc. then come back and ask specific questions? We'll all be glad to help!
When your up there, if you see the cross bars in place, chances are the paint underneath them has been rubbed off. That is one quirk with these things. The cross bars contact the paint in an effort to keep the overall height of the vehicle down. Ford actually claims the roof rack is below the high point on the vehicle. Probably forward of the rack.
By removing the cross bars early in its life, you spare the loss of paint on the roof.
