Motorcraft 10w30HD in 6.4 Diesel?
So I took my "new to me" 2008 F250 Diesel into Ford to change all the fluids and I see on my invoice they put 10W30HD in the engine?
The chart in the owners manual calls for 15W40 or 5W40 above 50 F (10C)? When I asked ford said that the Motorcraft 10W30HD was better than the normal 10W30 referred to in the owners manual?
It seems to be the only Motorcraft diesel oil so I assume it is ok but I use the truck to tow a 8000 lb trailer so I don't want to skimp on oil grade?
Anyone have any experience with or comments on this????

It ticks me off that I took it to the dealer and paid the premium so it would be done right and to develop a good relationship with them.
Now I feel like they just used up the winter stock of oil on my truck instead of putting in summer weight.
Anyway I emailed the service manager and asked him to confirm in writing that the oil is acceptable and that I would be towing with the truck. We'll see if he offers to correct the error. If not I'll send him a copy of the Motorcraft oil application guide and get more insistent.
