First off aluminum is fairly resiliant towards corrosion. Much more so than ferrous metal like steel. Then annodized aluminum is even more protected. In addition, corrosion is preventable with proper maintenance and cleaning. And i dont live in an area with severe winters and salted roads. I like the metal housing concept as it seems less susceptible to deterioration from weather and exposure to the elements like the sun.
I should of got some pics of the ALUM piece we were working with today in one of our systems it was about 1/8" thiv=ck and you could poke your finger through it.....
To be quote 'a day late and a dollar short'. If your looking for a flood type light, grote makes a good one of the halogen variety and they're only 25$-30$ a piece. If y'all buy into cp ratings they are rated at 250,000 cp.
They are very bright though definitely worth looking into.
This is why I love the offroad forum. I bought some $20 offroad lights from walmart, I think the brand is "Burners" or something. They've got a plastic housing and are pretty bright and tough. Pretty good bang for the buck.
