Had a cel and went to the dealer today to have it checked out, I thought it was the nox issue that I recieved a recall for. Turns out the DEF pump failed and my truck lost power and milage dropped almost 6 mpg. Is this normal for this problom?
I am one step closer to convincing my better half!!!! The dealership didnt find it funny when I offered it as a solution, although they have done many egr deletes on previous trucks!
Andrew010 how long did your delete take to get done? I am looking at the same setup. With your tuner on the lowest setting is there any smoke when towing?
Took a couple hours by myself to remove the factory exhaust and install a 5" straight pipe along with EGR block-off plates and relocate the factory pyro.
It would have been nice to have a buddy help with the factory exhaust as it's heavy as hell, but it's doable by yourself.
Tuner on lowest setting is stock which has almost no smoke. I can drive the truck on HOT with little smoke, as long as you don't smash the throttle before the turbo gets going it doesn't smoke much. On MILD towing, I don't think you have much smoke.
Thats pretty much what I have been hearing. I really do not want to smoke out the car next to me and attract jonnie law but cannot lose 2 to 10k a day to a truck in a shop! The festiva loaner wouldnt fare well pulling my trailor. Glad I still have my E350!!
Andrew is right on the money. I have not had any issues since I deleted mine Dec 2010. sometimes, if you are waiting at a stop sign and need to get on it you can make a bit more smoke than you want if you put her to the floor.... but you can drive around and not make any visible smoke. I am very happy with mine.
So I went to pick up the sd and drop off the festiva loaner today. I got a good look at the bosch def pump and it looked like it picked up dirt in the suction side. Full warrenty, dealer was good. The wife and I head home power is restored did a small burnout leaving the dealership. Three miles up the road cel # 2 and back to the dealership at 5pm closing time. The kid that put the pump in was great he stayed and hooked up the computer and same code as before. He mentioned priming the pump prior to the installation that requires the pump on its back, a small amount of def put in and turned over to be installed in the tank. I figured def could run out and the pump could loose its prime. He agreed and reset the code.55 miles home and trouble free so far. Good new is the wife saw how fragile the system is and is getting on the strait pipe and programmer bandwagon!!! The thing that we both found funny is my bike has a larger displacement than the fiesta, its nice that rollerskates are powered now
10 miles into my work day cel #3. Went to the dealership, yup same code. First story was the pump lost its prime they tested the output and deemed it ok. When the truck was done I spoke with one of the techs and the supply line came off and sprayed def all over (they blew it off with a air hose) reconnected the line and so far its ok. I have paperwork documenting 3 trips for the same problom just in case. Time will tell if there is a fourth cel. Shopping for pipes and a programmer, as with the diesels before it, ford makes them we make them better! Im thinking flo pro and h&s with a s&b intake. Any thoughts??
Thanks bud but its a long trip from NY. Funny the dealer installed egr deletes on the 6.0 and 6.4 for other people but might not inspect my truck if I tune it.
