Does anyone know how I can test my coil. I have no spark and need to fault find. Battery is OK, Motor swings. Coil measures 9.6 volts when motor is turning.
I will assume you have a 73-79 Model truck. Everytime I have had a no spark problem it turned out to be either the spark module, (silver/gray metal box on drivers side fenderwell) or the wire connections at the coil.
Mike, the primary resistance should be about .8 to 1.6 ohms. Measure this between the two small terminals (+ and -).
The secondary resistance should be about 7.7K to 10.5K ohms. Measure this between the coil negative terminal and the large center terminal (where the cap wire connects).
I agree with Tellico, you probably have a faulty ignition module.
