I have a1987 4x4 ranger that when cold, runs fine. However, when it gets warm, it will idle high and will also run "jerky" in like 3rd gear. It also seems to stall a little before catching up to the correct rpm. I had a remanfactured engine put in it 1 yr ago and last year I had problems that were similar. The line to the MAP was clogged and I had some bad vacum lines. After that it ran fine, now it's running bad again. Only the engine was replaced, not any of the electrical components or sensors. I've replaced the EGR valve, the plug wires, O2 sensor and was told the MAP was fine. The high idling is not consistent though. It will not always do this. Also I know I hear a definite "clicking" coming from my computer when the engine is acting up. I've been told that there are no moving parts in the computer, so there should be no noise, but I know I hear it. I replaced the computer with a used one also a year ago before I had the engine replaced because what led me to get the engine replaced was when I drove home one day and the after turning the truck off, it never started again. It had 186,000 mi on the original engine, so I just decided that I would replace the engine at this time since I intended to keep the truck. I know it could have been alot of things, but I never did find out what the original problem was. Also, I'm sure it would'nt hurt to replace all the sensors since they may be original. However, the truck ran fine up until a few weeks ago. Any insight woud be greatly apreciated.
