help ID my 4 barrel

This carb came on the '65 F250 w/ 352 V8 I just picked up, and it's not factory according to the data tag (specs a 2V carb). I tried cross referencing the few numbers I found, and that got me nowhere (Google doesn't even cross it to any carbs at all). It looks similar to a Carter/Edelbrock, not quite the same as any I've seen before. I'm planning on doing a full tuneup on this truck today, along with cleaning/rebuilding the carb, but with that, I have no idea what I should be looking for as far as a rebuild kit goes.

Ahh, found it with the help of a member on the IH forum - appears to be a Carter AFB 4759S, a 625CFM Competition carb. Looks like I can get a rebuild kit from Napa for $40, but I think I'll end up just keeping my eyes out for a nice Holley 650 vacuum secondary carb and try to unload this one on CL.

that carter AFB is actually a better carb than the holley once it is properly setup.

and that's the rub...I don't know jack about Carters, I've been in and out of Holleys half my life, plus I've plenty enough projects as it is,lol. But then, I suppose it never hurts to learn new stuff too I don't know..it's not going anywhere in the immediate future, plenty of other stuff to deal with on this truck first.

I agree, better mpg and better drivability. You can always get a tuning kit that has a bunch of jets and metering rods if you want to tune on it. All tuning can be done with the carb on the engine without spilling any fuel. They also have no gaskets below the fuel level so they don't leak. No powervalves to blow either. I have an Edelbrock 750 (same basic carb) on my 351W. I used to have it on a mildly built 460. I just went down on the jets a couple of sizes and went to a larger metering rod. Runs great on both engines.

That is a real goody you have. The original Carter AFBs were great carbs.
