I recently noticed that Shell is B5. Anyone know what product they're using to make the 5% Bio? Certainly not fryer grease I hope.

Not sure, but the Bucees by me is B10. It states on the pump that up to 10% can be biodiesel or renewable diesel. Because they distinguish between the two, it leads me to believe the bio could be something like soy based and the renewable could be refined oil of some other sort. With all of the emissions stuff on this truck, I'm unable to tell if it smells like McDonalds fries.

While Bio can add lubricity to diesel fuel it can also grow bacteria easier and carry water through the water separator. I would avoid Bio if you can.

Yep, Shell says it's B5 is vegetable oil and animal fats that have undergone transesterification. I guess burning Crisco and lard is not too different than burning the dino juice we like so much.

Wish I could avoid it here, but our esteemed Governor degree'd 2% mandatory here. All its done is driven the price of diesel worse than it is. Paying 4.36 here right now.

From what I have read, I'll skip the Bio.

TA stops (BP) have 10% bio at some locations, too.
Last time I checked, the two Love's between Nashville and Birmingham were 5% bio.
I drained the DFCM twice that month after I filled up at the TA stop but I didn't discover any concerns.
I filled up with around 40 MTE and then sat for a week at BNA so it ran through nearly a full tank of the stuff after that.

Thank you for your comments, I think I will try and avoid it if at all possible. The Pilot here in El Paso is 10% and the Shell is 5%. I will keep looking.

I really appreciate your comments.

I have a question about the Biodiesel. My F-350 6.7 is coming in at the end of the month. And we only have 1 B20 station I am aware of in my area was wanting to know the price difference regular diesel (lowest I've seen it 4.05 a gal.) and B20 higher or lower? Thanks

Where I'm at in Houston area, they are the same price. I'm paying 3.85 in my neighborhood.

I've never seen a price difference, but I guess it would depend on your local stations.

Almost all Dieses the US is soon to be a Bio Blend. Diesel can contain up to 5% Bio and the pump does not have to be labled as being a Bio Blend. Anything over 5% and the pump has to be labeled saying it is a Bio Blend. Almost all the terminals in the Houston area have a 5% Bio Blend. Any Truck that fills at a Chevron, ExxonMobil, or Shell terminal in the Houston area is 5% Bio Blend. Its all about tax credits.

Many of the truck stops do the blending right there at the station. One of the u/g tanks is filled with bio and it does the blend as it flows thru the piping to the pumps.
