Please help. MY 93 F150 won't start. I took out my starter and tested it right to the battery and it works, I even installed a new started and when I turn the key it only clicks. I got a new battery and the same thing only happens. I think when I turn the key it clicks from the starter, and when I jump the solenoid it only does the same thing. I have no idea what it could be

From your responses to the post about the bucket seat question (calling Ford's pieces of ####) I'm surprised you would own one.

Yea, it is surprising since I was the one that gave him those buckets seats

Did you replace the solenoid? Check the grounds, and make sure the starter bolts are tight. How did you jump the solenoid? Did you jump from the battery post to the starter post or did you jump the battery to the center?

The 93's have a starter relay mounted near the battery and a starter solenoid mounted on the starter. I would think that since you changed you starter already you may need to change your starter relay. The easiest way to check this is with a voltmeter. No reason to change the starter relay near the battery if it is passing 12 volts when engaged.

Well I didn't replace the starter because i put the new one in and it did the same thing. Plus when i took the old one out, which i put back it, I used some jumper cables right from the truck battery to see if the starter work and it did. I then replaced the battery cause i thought i just didn't have enough power. I also jumped the seliode from the key side and right from the battery with the same results. I acutually had the truck running after it was apart and sitting for almost a year, then this happened and i can't seem to figure out want cause it to do this all of a sudden

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 06-Oct-02 AT 01:42 AM (EST)]Hey there again! This is what you get for saying Ford's suck
Any way's I had the same exact problem with mine at one point...Turn the key and it just clicks...it ended up being that little wire from the battery to the starter was to dirty and not making full contact to the starter..it's the wire with the clip thing on it.

Try jumping right from the battery side of the solenoid to the starter side. Dont use the key switch post. I had two bad solenoids with the same symptoms you are having. I tried jumping to the key switch post and it still just clicked. Jumped directly from the bat to the starter and it turned over. 3 bucks later the truck is running. Just a thought.

My friend Fordperf300 just figured it out before today. It was a bad positive cable that didn't flow enought juice to the starter to kick the engive over

Congrats on your fix! I am glad to see it wasnt something more serious. It always seems to be the little things that kick you it the butt the hardest. Take care..
