Coolant leak issue help!!!

Hey guys,

I have a 91 F-150 with a 302 in it. I don't drive the truck that often as I have a company vehicle so it mostly just sits in the garage. About a month ago I did a coolant flush on the truck and everything went well, That was until the truck was cool, over the span of a week there was a rather large puddle of coolant on the floor of my garage. This came from the pass side rear portion of the motor.

I thought it was the heater core so I drained all the coolant out of the truck and just filled it with water to try and locate a leak, No success on heater core leak, this doesn't appear to be the issue. I took the truck down to O'reilly's and did a pressure test and it was loosing pressue but not leaking anywhere.

I went back home and checked the fluid level, It was a little low so I topped off the radiator and the resivior. I then noticed that fluid was leaking on the driver front of the rad support dripping onto the ground. I replaced the old overflow resivior as it was cracked and no leaks from the lower tube. The only thing I can think of is a intake gasket leak as it would make sense since I can't see the leak, Also I have a little milky oil in the air breather from the tube which I initially thought was worn out rings.

Any help would be great!!

Thanks
Aaron

I has been my experience that when you have "chocolate milkshake" going on like that, it is quite often the sign of a bad head gasket. What does the engine oil look like?

Milky oil means antifreeze got mixed in with it. It could be a head gasket or cracked block or head. Did you overheat the truck?

Geoph1986 - Oil looks fine, It's just in the air box.

Andym - Not that I'm aware of unless the previous owner overheated it. The guage doesn't show it hot or anything. I'll have to look into the head gasket issue.

Could be just intake gasket. Gasket dried up, or intake bolt broke and allowing leakage.

I lost a front passenger side bolt about a month ago and cause intake gasket leak(antifreeze). New bolts and gasket and good to go.

If the oil is staying clean, then likely it's not severe and getting into motor.

May be noteworthy to check the gasket for the thermostat housing. I had a leak I thought was originating from my water pump that was only a year old, but come to find out the gasket that for the thermostat housing was leaking. Frustrating but very simple fix. I used black RTV sealant on mine the next time and hasn't leaked since.
