I prefer the rubber bed mat myself. I don't haul that much in the bed that I have to worry about dents, but the mat keeps things from sliding around in the bed during stopping and starting. I had to stop quickly once in a Ranger with a liner in it and the stuff I was hauling slammed into the front of the bed hard enough to bend it almost into the cab. So it's been a mat only for me since then. And a truck isn't a truck if there aren't a few dents and scratches in the bed. If I expected the bed to be pristine when I sold or traded the truck I'd probably be happier with an SUV.

My 97 f-150 dented up pretty bad on the wheel wells but hey, its a truck, not a car.

Well I'm sure the trunk of my car has dents in it too, its not only my truck haha
