V10
I've had two and loved 'em both. For it's size (displacement), the 6.8L is one stout engine! You just have to build some RPMs that a lot of big-block guys aren't used to running. With those kinds of loads, I'd recommend a low-gear in the diffs to help keep the engine in it's powerband.
just wanting some opinions on the Ford 6.8l V10. I am getting a F350 SD 4x2 Chasis Cab.
CC = Crew Cab (4 door)
SC = Super Crew (Extended Cab with suicide doors)
The V10 is great. If you are going to tow it a lot then the diesel may be the way to go. Depends on your needs.

A Chasis Cab is a truck with no bed. He is putting a flat bed on it.

pointed me to the V-10. With the load you will be pulling get the 4.30 rear end.
1. Twice the developed torque at same RPM.
2. Greater horsepower at lower RPM.
3. Twice the resale value.
4. Faster
5. 14-18 mpg vs. 10 mpg
6. 1.35 for diesel vs. 2.10 for gas( at least where I live)
All adds up to a sound investment for me.

2. Yes greater lower HP
3. Not even CLOSE to twice resale, in fact lucky to get HALF the original cost of the diesel around here.
4. FASTER??? What are you smoking, UNLESS you add chip, propane, void warranty, or spend 40,000+ for a 6.0 that will probably break
in the first 6 months of ownership.5. 14-18 mpg vs. 12-14 mpg (measured at pump)
6. 1.69 for diesel vs. $1.60 for unleaded here
7. $50.00 oil changes for diesel
8. Coolant additives for diesel
9. Diesel stinky smoke
10. Diesel racket.
All adds up to a sound investment for me. (V10)

Look, I assume you have been around here long enough to know all the advantages or each engine and that each has its market. I also think you have probably read the lenghty posts that are caused buy the type of comments that you have just made. Did you miss the very first post in this thread and the part where he said he wanted a gas engine? Enjoy your expensive torque and stay quiet.

In almost every V10 post there is some yahoo with a diesel who has to post their opinion. I see that as the first shot accross the bow.
On the other hand-they love the guys who buy them for status/bragging rights...they're the first ones that have to trade up when something more powerful hits the sales lot and it keeps a nice supply of pavement queen condition diesels on the used car lot that are just begging to finally do some real work!!

BTW-how much does the Kubota tractor you have weigh?
