Me personally, I am not a fan of recoil. I'm trying to get over it. But embarrassingly enough, a .30/06 is still giving me trouble. I can shoot it well, but I still know I'm flinching.

EDIT: I've got a .357 that's in the mail today! On it's way to the FFL!

the biggest thing to help with recoil is practice ! lol..actually the only way to truely get rid of flinching is to hold your breath and sqeeze the trigger so softly that you really dont know when it will go off. at least that works for me...and planting the rifle as tight as you can in your shoulder.

it seems once you get in the zone you dont even notice the gun going off or the recoil..it happens every time i draw down on a deer or elk..sometimes im not even aware im pulling the trigger because im so focused..(and those times that has happened the animal did even take another step).

Yeah, I hear ya, when I'm hunting, autopilot goes on and I don't consciously think of the actions I'm doing. At the rifle range is a bit different however for me.

get some deer targets...lol who knows maybe you can get in the zone that way...

what i have been practing is instinctive shooting....its amazing what kind of aim you have when you just draw and shoot...(like shooting clays with shotguns) how ever i have been doing it with my pistol.. so far i have shot two tree rats on the run

and i get better groouping on targets when i just draw and double tap

That's actually something I'm trying to practice lately! Rough start, but I think I've got a pretty good handle on the concept. Gotta keep practicing!

Nope. I just dropped off one truck and picked up another from him and he had just finished stripping everything off of it he was going to keep.

I think they were going to head up there after 4 sometime.

Highly unlikely. With the energy that a .30-06 develops, even if it won't pierce a vest, the concussion off it hitting a person(but not penetrating the chest cavity) would probably be enough to cause some of the major organs to fail.

Evening everyone.

Busy day at work but absolutely not productive. If I get this new job I think I'd better get used to it.

You guys have been dang chatty already. I haven't shot any gun in years. My FIL is big into black powder. I shot his a few times. Other than those, I haven't shot a gun in over 20 years. Never really cared for it. I've got enough hobbies that I already can't pay for.

I can only think that if a vest were a plate carrier and had an AR500 or above steel plate in it, that it'd be bullet proof to the wearer. It'd still knock you on your rear however.
