Odd Truck?

I just bought a 66 F-250 to add to my fleet. It is an 8' stepside, the bed looks unusually tall, maybe 4-5 " taller than I expected, and it is 54" wide. It has inner wheel wells, approximately 2" wide.

the other thing that didn't seem normal is it has what appear to be stock 19.5" wheels.

Are these normal?

The F100/250 8' Flareside bed (a stepside is a Chevrolet) has taller bed sides/front panel and tailgate than the F100's 6 1/2' bed.

The 8' beds tailgate is 54 13/16" long. The 6 1/2' beds tailgate is 49 13/16" long. The wood bed floors/crossmembers are also different.

The 8' bed rear fenders are different from the 6 1/2' bed rear fenders. The 8' bed steps are also longer (25" vs 17").

F250's of this vintage came with 16" x 6" wheels as standard equipment. 16" x 5.5" (split rim), 17.5" x 5.25" (split-rim/non split rim) and 19.5" x 5.25" wheels were optional.

I've evidently not been paying attention all these years. thanx.

I'm assuming the larger opening in the front fenders is because of the 19.5 wheels, or do all the 250's have larger front fenders?

If you don't want those wheels, many others would love to have them.

It came with 5 of them, I actually bought the truck because I needed a cab for my 65. I just brought it home Sunday from Va. and haven't had time to assess the situation yet, so I'm not really sure what I am going to build. I have my 65 shortbed 4wd, and this new 66 longbed 2wd. The wheels could end up being extra. If you need them send me an email and I'll get in touch if I deside to scrap them. CapeCanal@comcast.net

A friend of mine owned a 55-ish Chevy stepside with a factory 10 foot bed.

I wonder if the taller F-250 bed was Fords answer.

I was told the Chevy was called a garden bed and could carry 4 cubic yards of dirt.

Big wheels before big wheels were in. Generally I hate the things but here they look fine... unless you chrome them

When I first bought it my first thought was you'd never be able to buy tires for it so I googled the size, and they are available now for new trucks.

I don't need them, just alerting you to the fact that you could unload them on this site if you wanted to be rid of them.
