'found an early 90s Bronco which used a contour bumper and grabbed the brackets (and bumper). Had to extend 'em cuz they were a hair too short to get two bolts into the frame... modified on the left, original on the right:
'had to modify the outer brackets in a similar fashion:
IMPORTANT.. Ford went metric in the early 80s so bring an 18mm socket with ya!
Tell me about it. I only know this from fixing the sunroof on my 01 S'crew... But have ya ever noticed some metric tool kits have one 5.5mm socket but the rest are whole numbers?
Thanks Silver! good snaps ... i have both bronco and step brackets , and i think i will just shorten the step bracket to fit with the bronco bracket and then use the bronco out brackets.
I have owned 3 new gmc's in the last 5 yrs and have put a lift on each one ... each damn bolt and nut you have to remove is metric AND a different size - NONE are the same . you end up with every metric wrench and socket you have on the shop floor....

WTF is that about? I mean really - 5.5mm???
I've got a 5.5mm and a 6.5mm and I don't get it. Still more tools are more tools right - so what "real man" wouldn't want them
But yes - Ford went Metric in '85. That is just part of the reason I have a full metric tool set to compliment my SAE set. And a big part of the reason I LOVE wrenching on the dents and being able to take the entire truck apart with 2 wrenches & a screwdriver pretty much...
