Question time vs miles

Conventional wisdom says to change your oil every 3,000 miles or 3 months (whichever comes first). My new truck's manual now says 5,000 or 6 months unless towing, idling extensively, operating in dusty conditions, or off-roading - then it's 3k/3.

Well, here's my situation...

I will be towing a 32' travel trailer once in a while, although not over long distances.

I do putter around town on probably 75% of my outings, but only for about 10% of my mileage.

Probably 75% of my miles are on the highway.

I'll probably average around 1500 miles in 3 months.

I'm gonna change the oil for the first time today (@2mo/1100mi). Should I then go to a 3 month schedule, a 6 month schedule, 3k miles, or somewhere in between? Any preferences/advice on oil types (i.e. synthetics or compounds, not brands)?

Also, the ATF changes are scheduled for every 30k, regardless of time. Any new/better wisdom for this?

Last question, I promise - with 1100 miles and my first oil change in the past, is it OK for me to go back to "digital driving" (gas is either on or off) and fly down the road with my big toe in the injector, thus exceeding the 2500 RPM barrier I've been observing? I can't find anything about break-in periods or instructions for breaking-in in any of the manuals.

Sorry for the long post - again.
