You are correct about the rear sway bar not having an affect on the return to center but what I think is happening is that the slight rear sway is steering the front. And since it currently does not return to center on its own I have to get it to center. If I over steer slightly I have to correct that...so it becomes a steering game.

I am hoping, at least for now, the rear sway bar will help stabilize the entire truck. When I adjusted my rear shocks to a more firm setting it helped.

I know that the return to center is from the new ball joints but I have a few theories about it.
1. tight ball joints as these are Moogs and they have this tendency...yes they were installed correctly. They should loosen up is what I am told but the drive is not so nice and I feel with my trailer hooked up it will be white knuckled
2. steering box....the previous owner may have tightened the gear box which worked fine when the ball joints were bad. A tighter gear box was compensating for them being loose. Installing the tighter Moogs resulted in a tighter gear box which results in it not returning to center.
3. steering dampener..most likely not this...but I have heard they can freeze up causing the steering to stick. Easy to remove but I have not done it yet.

Since I have the rear sway bar in my plans I am going to start with that install. It should arrive on Wednesday and I will install it soon after that. I know it won't fix the primary issue but it may help until the ball joints break in and loosen up.

As to the sway bar recommended by LOVESTRUCKS, I just called Tousley to order the F350 anti-sway bar. The question I ask is: does the F350 bar bolt up with the stock hardware or must I order all the additional hardware for the F350 bar to fit?

Jim, from what I have read...

If you already have a rear sway bar on the X (2004 and 2005) which needs to be bigger, then you only need to order the sway bar and you are good.
If you don't have a sway bar at all...like me. Then you will need to order the f350 sway bar, the excursion end links and the excursion axle bracket.

I initially though I would be able to get all these parts pretty easy from craigslist or the junk yard cheap but that really wasn't the case.
I am now rushed and just need everything for the sway bar so I ordered the hellwig--$197 to my door.
