Floor Jack

What size jack are you using to lift the front or back of your ex? I'm looking to buy a quality (american) floor jack but don't know if I should get a 3.5, 4 or 5 ton. any suggestions?

In round numbers, each wheel supports 2000lbs. You can figure out what you need from there.

Unless you're only using the floor jack to only change tires, while you're getting a floor jack, I'd recommend getting a set of appropriate jack stands as well.

I have a 3-ton floor jack and a set of 4-ton each stands, and the combo works just fine. If you are working on an asphalt driveway, put something under the jack stands and the wheels of the floor jack because the X is heavy enough to sink into the asphalt....

Our local NAPA stores have a 3.5 ton floor jack for 200.00 bucks right now, I don't know if that is a nation wide promo or not but that's a steal IMO!
Just sayin!

Thanks for the replies. Based on your experiences, it looks like I can use a 3.5 ton. Im sure it'll be cheaper, just have to find a deal. I agree with the using of heavier duty 6 ton jack stands. Don't want to have any accidnets. My shopping quest begins today. Thanks again.

Northern Tools - order on-line free shipping to your local store (if it's not already in stock). My local autopart stores carry Torin which
just doesn't feel industrial enough for an Ex.

Arcan 3.5 Ton floor jack (XL35) usually on sale 139.99
Torin 6 ton jack stands 46.99

The floor jack is great - long industrial/profession type jack handle.
Long handle makes rolling this on the sidewalk/driveway easy.
It weights 109 lbs !

I lift the entire front end of the Ex from the big bar under the bumper
that "keeps cars from going underneath".
Then I put 1 jack stand on both sides of the jack stand once it's lifted.

I believe mine is 3.5 tons, it does the job fine whether lifting the front or the back. Half the time with the ex I just use the 8 ton bottle jack I keep in the back, cause I'm usually just lifting a tire.
